Noida Deaf Society (NDS), Noida

Noida Deaf Society (NDS) is a not-for-profit organisation that provides educational and vocational training, and job placements to the deaf youth typically from the economically weaker sections of society. NDS has successfully placed several students in reputed organisations for various roles like back-office and hospitality.

ABF supports various NDS courses like English Literacy, keyboarding skills, Indian Sign Language, MS Office, Internet Browsing, etc. The MS Office and DTP programmes conducted by NDS are accredited by The NIIT Institute (TNI), which plays an active role in training the teachers and students at NDS.

Foundation for Education & Development, Rajasthan

Doosra Dashak (i.e. second decade) is a non-formal, three-year education Program implemented by FED. With an estimated outreach of 10000 beneficiaries, the program seeks to provide relevant education by popularising science in schools and among adolescents in the rural areas of Rajasthan.

Doosra Dashak aims to challenge superstitions and 'long-held' beliefs on caste, social status and religious orthodoxy besides inculcating a scientific temper amongst the entire community.

ABF supports the scientific component of the operating costs of 5 Gyan Vigyan Kendras (GVKs), 10 Vigyan Kendras (VKs) and conducts 5 Block level Science Fairs each year. These fairs are held in backward and poor districts, mainly populated with tribals, scheduled caste/tribes and other minority communities.

Pardada Pardadi Educational Society (PPES), Uttar Pradesh

Pardada Pardadi Educational Society (PPES) addresses the issues of poverty, gender-bias and education in rural India. They have developed an educational programme and run a development initiative called Pardada Pardadi Girls Vocational School (PPGVS) in Anupshahar Block of Bulandshahr district (U.P.).

PPES provides for free education, books, bicycle, food, uniform, and vocational skills training (for making home furnishings) to the students. Out of the running cost of each child of Rs. 70, Rs. 10 is deposited in each girl child's account on the basis of her attendance. By the time the girl passes class tenth, she will have Rs. 30,000-35,000 in her account. PPGVS also assures employment to each girl after she passes class twelfth.

Besides supporting the education of 350 rural girls studying in classes 6 to 12, ABF also supports the Vocational Training cum Production Centre at the school and facilitates career counselling to the students.

Centre For Unfolding Learning Potentials (CULP), Jaipur

Centre for Unfolding Learning Potentials (CULP) is a non-governmental organisation, working since 2000 as a grass roots agency as well as professional research group in the areas of Education and Development. Through their 'Pehchan Project' for educating out-of-school girls (in age group of 9 - 14 years) in villages of Chakshu (Jaipur District) and Niwai Blocks (Tonk District), they have been able to mainstream about 1000 girls into formal schools after graduating from their bridge courses.

The Pehchan Project is now being implemented with the support of ABF since October 2007 for imparting quality elementary education to about 600 out-of-school girls in 22 remote and socio-economically backward villages of the two Blocks of Chaksu in Jaipur District and Niwai in Tonk District in Rajasthan.

ABF also provides coaching support to the girls who have graduated the Bridge Course and are preparing to appear in Secondary level examinations.

Shanti Devi Charitable Trust, Delhi

Shanti Devi Charitable Trust (SDCT) was established in 1998 by its Principal Trustees, Anuradha and Tarun Bakshi, to initiate and implement projects for the betterment of the disadvantaged sections of society. SDCT runs Bal Asha Vidya Kendras or After School Learning Centers to provide remedial classes following the prescribed school curriculum.

Qualified teachers assist the children by following methods which help simplify the lessons and generate interest in the subjects. SDCT provides to its students opportunities to learn specialised skills such as computers, music, dance etc. They also provide free books, uniforms, vocational training, which enables them to become self-sufficient members of society who can also support their families.

The Project with ABF benefits approximately 1000 underprivileged children of Kusumpur Pahari in Vasant Vihar and Rangpuri-Mahipalpur area in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. ABF supports 15 After School Learning Centres running classes from Nursery to Class XII for this purpose.

Godhuli, Delhi

Constituted as a Charitable Society in 1994, Godhuli imparts formal education based on Gandhian principles to the underprivileged children of Meera Bagh slum area in Delhi. They provide free education along with study materials and school uniform. The focus is on an all-round growth of its students - intellectual, physical, spiritual, creative and social.

Godhuli started its school 'Bapu Ba Bal Shiksha Grih' with 40 children at Meera Bagh in Oct 2000 and the number has substantially increased after that.

It aims to have as many slum children mainstreamed at as early an age as possible after inculcating the required capability and confidence in them to continue with their studies.

ABF is supporting Godhuli in running the classes from KG to Class III in Meerabagh slum area benefiting 230 children.

Astha Sansthan, Udaipur

Established in 1986, Astha has the strategy of having Resource Units to do the research, networking, linkages, training in areas of education, rural development, organising women's group, drought management and agriculture development.

The Program with ABF covers the following educational initiatives viz.

• ensuring reach of quality education to 30 tribal villages with supplementary teaching till grade 4-5 competencies on a daily basis in the local schools by Young Educators (YEs) as well as by organising month long summer camps.
• holding special residential educational camps of 7 months' duration for out-of-school girls in their late childhood and adolescence to achieve academic competencies till primary level. Astha has been organising these summer camps successfully since 2002 under the erstwhile Lok Jumbish Project.

Approximately 1800 children and 60 Young Educators would benefit from the daily classes and summer camps being held in the 30 villages while there would be 120 girls and 6-10 teachers benefiting through the two educational camps.

Jayaprakash Narayan Memorial Trust, Noida

Vidya & Child (V&C) is a non-profit initiative managed by the Jayaprakash Narayan Memorial Trust which is registered as a Public Charitable Trust in New Delhi in July 1998. The Trust's objective is towards undertaking development work for the underprivileged who do not have access to basic amenities like drinking water, health, sanitation and education facilities for their children. V&C started with 2 children and now works with over 700 children across 4 locations through its non-formal and after school support centres.

The Program with ABF specifically focuses on increasing outreach of Vidya & Child's Non-Formal Education Program by-

• Expansion of existing learning centre at Khoda, Sector 62, Noida, and
• Commencing operations at a new centre at Barola village, Sector 49, Noida
