District-Udaipur

In Phalasiya and Kotra blocks of Udaipur district, nearly 95% of population belongs to the scheduled tribe category mainly depending on subsistence farming, livestock and wage labor for livelihood. Most farmers are able to farm in only one season since agriculture is mostly rain fed. Due to this, several male members of the family migrate for casual work as laborers away from their village, putting additional burden on women to manage both the farm and household. Seva Mandir works on 70% tribal population with focus on education, health, natural resources, women, gender equality, childcare, sanitation and hygienic drinking water. They facilitate quality education in its schools, critical health services, food security and sustainable livelihoods to several families.

Axis Bank Foundation has partnered with Seva Mandir to support the livelihood initiatives in 36 panchayats and 156 revenue villages in Phalasiya and Kotra tehsils of Udaipur district.

The goal of the project is to focus on various interventions like natural resource management, agriculture activities, livestock, collectives and capacity building, thus enhancing the income and well-being of the communities.
