India lags behind when it comes to assimilating people with disabilities into mainstream society. Lack of understanding about the need of these people and lack of access to special education undermines the abilities of the differently abled thereby marginalizing them further. When it comes to the Hearing Impaired (HI), a lot of emphasis is laid on getting them to speak as it is considered a medical condition. Added to this, there are a lot of misconceptions about using sign language due to which even families are also not equipped to handle their wards' disability.

Axis Bank Foundation along with Noida Deaf Society works with the Hearing Impaired (HI) youth from the economically weaker sections of the society to help them focus on their abilities.

NDS provides remedial education to such individuals in order to strengthen their knowledge and help them perform better in school. These classes as well as the primary education of children between 5 to 12 years of age are held in sign language and are taught by trained HI people. Vocational trainings in Indian Sign Language, English Communication skills, Desktop Publishing, MS Office, Key Boarding Skills, Graphic Design, Life Skills and Work Ethics are taught. NDS has tie ups with various corporate houses who employ Hearing Impaired people for their backend work such as Costa Coffee Chain, KFC, Agro Tech Foods Ltd, Dominos and Axis Bank. NDS also train and sensitises these organizations about the abilities and restrictions of working with the Hearing Impaired.
