Maharashtra has been affected by unprecedented drought, impacting thousands of villages and millions of people. The Government of Maharashtra has launched “Village Social Transformation Mission” to transform rural Maharashtra. It aims to provide infrastructure and quality, thus empowering villages to practice self-sustainable development.

Axis Bank Foundation in collaboration with Village Social Transformation Mission – Government of Maharashtra, aims to reform 1,000 worst affected villages by drought and other social challenges in Maharashtra into Model Villages by 2018.

The project will also focus on skill development of the youth in the villages and placements in the organized sector, development of human resource for ensuring water security and leverage Government schemes in identifies Gram Panchayats. The project will also focus on health, education, sanitation and financial literacy of villagers.
